Summer (2025)

I created this painting not as a depiction of a particular place, but as an expression of summer itself — the feeling of gentle coolness in the shade of trees, the shimmering light of a garden, and the quiet, vibrant energy of nature.

The work is created in my signature technique, applying paint with my fingers from a certain distance. This process allows me to build a richly textured surface and convey the movement and living energy that I feel in nature.

The act of painting itself becomes a kind of performance — an intuitive form of action painting. As I work, I become completely absorbed in the process, almost as if entering into a ritual dance with the painting. Gesture, movement, rhythm, and the physical contact with paint become as important as the final image itself. Through this process, I try not simply to depict nature, but to transmit its energy directly onto the canvas.

This painting was selected for the prestigious Reina Sofía Painting and Sculpture Prize exhibition at Casa de Vacas in Madrid’s Retiro Park. The award is organized by the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors, with Queen Sofía serving as its Honorary President.
